It was all turnaround at our July Meeting as our speaker Madge Spencer wanted to do her demonstration earlier in the evening.
As Madge was well known to us she started her talk with her usual jokes and banter. Then she went on to tell us how we could use the clay other than throwing a pot. We could roll it out and decorate it by engraving and painting it to make wall plaques, door numbers etc.
She then demonstrated how to make a bowl, candle holder and a vase.
Members were then invited to have a go and make their own pots. Four Members tried their hand with varying degrees of success, much to the delight of the other Members (see the gallery page)
After a cup of tea we got on with the business part of the evening.
£27 had been made at the Nottinghamshire Federation Centenary Fun Day despite the weather and poor attendance. (see the gallery page) Emma had made a new banner which had been displayed at the end of the event and was shown to Members. Well done Emma.
Julia read out three limericks she had written for the Canada Cup competition and the hilarity caused by one of them decided the entry. Well done Julia.
The invitations to our 50th birthday party were handed out.
The competition for a ‘tea cup’ bought the most entries for a competition this year, it was won by new Member Margaret. The raffle was won by Emma.
For our August Meeting we will be welcoming back Andrew Whitelee to take us through the ‘art’ of Foraging the Hedgerows.
