The WI Centenary Baton finally arrived at Egmanton, see gallery for pictures.
The Members of Egmanton WI arrived the arrival of the baton in their 'best Sunday hats' and prayed for good weather as we were taking a tractor and trailer ride to deliver it onto Weston WI. Laxton WI brought the baton to us by horse and horsebox and the exchange was made between Joyce Stone of Laxton on horseback to Jean Marchbank our Founder Member. Photos were taken and then we departed by tractor to Weston WI where we were met by their Members who were also dressed up for the occasion. After more photos we returned to Egmanton to The Old Plough Inn for a lovely lunch enjoyed by all. A meal vochure for the pub was given to our tractor driver Edward Leach who had done a grand job in transporting us. Tonight we are going to enjoy the delights of Tai Chi with our speaker Joy Parsons. |
