Twenty three members attended and notices for the up coming months were discussed, also our future events of the Quiz Night, Plant Swap Day and 50th Birthday Party, (details can be found on our events page or our programme).
The overall winner of the 2016 monthly competition was Sheila with Lydia coming second.
We then proceeded with the Annual Meeting and were taken through, and reminded of, the previous year's events. The new committee was announced and Members were invited to vote for a new President, which resulted in an overwhelming vote for Daphne to continue for another year.
We were then shown an updated presentation by Georgina Frost and Christine Cook of the development of the school in Kenya funded by the local charity CHinK (CHildren in Kenya).
The school has now been completed with additional funds from The Lions. We were shown how the children are selected for the school, the poorest being chosen by Georgina after having visited their homes. The classes start at 4 years of age and continue until 14 when they either leave or go onto further education elsewhere. All the children are sponsored throughout their education by public sponsorship. Further details can be found on their website www.chink.org.uk
The competition this month was for crafted items for children, which were then given to Georgina for the children. The winner of the completion was Phemie with Helen coming second.
The newly formed Egmanton Crochet Group displayed their work, which had been a great achievement for some Members as they had only been crocheting for a few week.
Members then enjoyed a social time around a table of cheese, biscuits and wine, supplied by the Members.
